Art Journal Vol. 10: Band Flare and Using Your Stash

Volume 10 (11)

Hey everyone!
I’ve finally been able to have time to get back into scrapbooking an art journaling. I apologize, because when you read next week’s posts, I said the same thing (I’m not stashing posts…). Anyway!

I bought this e-course from A Beautiful Mess, that is unfortunately no longer available, called “Use Your Stash.” I don’t know about you, but I have a mountain of crafting supplies that I never use because I’m an impulse buyer. I used to just buy stuff when I was at the store and say “I’ll use it one day.” Most of the time, that day never came.

This year, I’m vowing try and use of much stuff that I have before buying new supplies. I decided to read and utilize this course to use up my stash (as there is a lot of items that are under utilized!)

Volume 10 (5)

I use to collect band flare buttons from back in my scene-ster days. Each time I moved, I open up a box and repack them in another because I just didn’t know what to do with them! One of the lessons in the course used flare buttons to create a pattern and I couldn’t have been more excited!

Volume 10 (9)

I used two different sized shot glasses and dipped the rims in paint to create this circular pattern background.
I let it dry overnight.

Volume 10 (10)

Once dried, I used a hot glue gun to randomly place flare buttons until all the circles were full!

Volume 10 (12)

I made two pages! This is going to be the beginning of my “concert album.” I have so many photos of me at concerts that are just sitting in a shoebox collecting dust. I’m excited to begin this album! I’m more excited to share the progress with all of you!

Volume 10 (11)

How about you!? Have you used this technique for button flare? What other ways have you used flare in your albums?
I’d love to see, I still have tons of buttons left to use! #myMCAart
