Art Journal Volume 13: Creating a Fun Background

I can’t believe it’s May already! Today, I’m having fun journaling after gaining inspiration from Rachel Dendow’s e-course 52 Weeks of Art Journaling. I originally bought it off of A Beautiful Mess’s shop but it’s still available on Smile and Wave! Sorry for the small photos, I forgot to change my camera settings…

I thought she has a wonderful idea by creating a fun pattern in the background using every day objects! I went to Australia in 2011 and can’t wait for the day to go back! I think about it almost everyday how much fun I had there. I have an inspiration album where I have various pages of thoughts that I make pages about. I decided to make a motivational travel page!

Today, I used this magnet in the shape of Australia to create this fun background on the paper. I first traced the magnet and then outlined with permanent marker to make it “pop.”

Then, I added a few travel cards and a picture of Maloo, the dingo pup that we got “babysit” while I was there. Finally, I journaled my thoughts!
