I’m excited to read and re-read some my E-courses that I’ve purchased to incorporate some new techniques! I may even have to look through some of my past art journals! At some point, I will be caught up on the months and can release my post in conjunction with the end of the month.

Capture Real Life: Week Two

A Beautiful Mess released this course called Capture Real Life in 52 Weeks last year. I purchased this E-Course over a year ago and never got around to completing it.

Each week I will be sharing the photos I take from the course work. I will not be sharing the content – only the weekly challenge. Want to complete this challenge with me?? You can buy the course here! Each weekly course has different prompts and helpful hits to help you complete the challenge. I think it’ll be fun! If you will be doing this challenge with me leave a comment and I will be sure to check out your photos!

Without further delay, here is week two: “Guilty Pleasures”

Guilty pleasures are a hard thing for me to capture because I really don’t have any! I have no shame in the things I like to do, music I listen to, or movies/tv shows I watch. One thing that always cheers me up on a bad day is a new project! My apartment is filled with homemade stuff! I tell all my new guests, if it looks homemade it probably is!

See you next week 🙂

25 before 26: One year in iPhone photos!

I started this tradition in 2014 when I turned 24. I made a list of things I wanted to do before I turned 25, and I did not do as well as I thought. I seriously thought I was going to do so much better this year. Overall, I am very happy with what I accomplished!

Here’s how I did:

1. Puxatomy Phil (didn’t wake up in time/couldn’t get off work)

2. Homemade Sushi
I’ll give myself this one. I didn’t make sushi, but I did make pot sitckers! Complete with bamboo steamer, which is only $20 bucks at Bed, Bath and Beyond!

3. Crafty Mart
I will also give myself this one. I applied to Crafty Mart, but sadly was not accepted. However, everything happens for a reason. The next day after I got my reject email, I got a DM from a friend that she was having a show the same day! I applied and totally got in! I had SO much fun, and also learned A LOT!

4. Sweet Potato Cupcakes with Marshmallow Frosting
Yes please. I made this within the first week of making this list. OMG! They were very delicious. I need to make them again!!

5. Make $100.00 selling my stuff
Yes. This happened. I opened my Etsy shop this year! I finally decided to jump in and try! I had more success selling than I thought I would!

6. Post a blog once a week

7. Travel outside of the U.S.
I didn’t travel outside of the US, but I did make it to Columbus, OH. Does that count?

8. Christmas at my house
It was a success!

Art Journal 26 Before 27 - one year in iPhone photos (23)

9. Brunch once a month
Not sure if it was once a month…but it sure was a heck of a lot! I will eat brunch for breakfast, lunch, and dinner…any day!

I have been doing WAY more for myself. The biggest thing this year was exploring places outside of Akron. I’ve been hanging out in Cleveland a lot more, and I seriously LOVE this city.
Last year I accomplished 11, this year I accomplished 12. Moving in the right direction. Goal for 2016/2017: 15!

Birthday Tradition: 26 Things Before 27

Three years going, here is my 26 things to do before I turn 27!

image

Hey everyone! It’s that time of the year again! I will now consider this a tradition as this is my third year making this list. Each year for my birthday, I make a list of things to try before my next birthday. I started it when I turned 24, with a list of 24 things before 25, and then made a second one of 25 things before 26. This is my third time making this list, so without further delay…here are 26 things to do before I turn 27!

image

1. Finish my monthly albums
2. Read five books
3. Take a vacation – a real vacation
4. Start a new collection
5. Explore three new national parks
6. Take a class
7. Send 100 pieces of mail
8. Climb a mountain

image
9. Make my own holiday card
10. Host Christmas
11. Make $200 selling my crafts
12. Get back into blogging
13. Attend two craft shows
14. Sew one piece of clothing
15. Play mini golf
16. Exercise once a week
17. Buy a bike
18. Camp

image

19. Visit a volcano
20. Explore a cave
21. Ride a train
22. Make something out of bottle caps
23. Invent a new game
24. Beer Olympics
25. Beach volleyball
26. Make myself happy!

I went a little more realistic this year. I usually make stretch lists that push myself a little, but seeing how I did this past year with my 25 list, I was pushing myself too hard.

Do you ever make a list? If you did, what would be on it?

January Mini Album

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Last week I decided to dive into a new adventure: scrapbooking mini albums! It started last Sunday morning when I bought an E-Course from the A Beautiful Mess Shop on sale. I’ve always wanted to document my life more. It was on my list of 24 things before 25, and had a little success with it. I vowed to myself that 2016 would be my year, and have been documenting it as much as I can! What a better way to re-live the great moments than making an album for each of the monthly highlights!

I have to admit, similar to my Instagram calendar, it was hard to choose my favorite photos. Luckily, my photo choice was not limited to 12 and I can pick as many as I can fit in the album!

DIY January 2016 Homemade Mini Scrapbook Album (26)

I had a lot of fun making this album, and cannot wait to make the next coming months! Here is a look at all my pages:

Accordion Photo Book

Here is an easy way to make use of all those cell phone photos!

DIY Accordion Photo Book Scrapbooking Papercrafting (1)

March is a special month for me. This marks one year of adopting my bestest friend in the world: JayJay! He came to me at a time in my life when I really needed a friend. You can read the full story of how we came together here. As I look over the past year, I couldn’t be happier with my decision to adopt him.

I thought it would be fun to “commemorate” our friendship with all my favorite photos from the past year. I found this idea on Pinterest for an accordion photo book and though it would be a perfect project for this idea!

DIY Accordion Photo Book Scrapbooking Papercrafting (4)

Here is what you will need:
Four or Five different Scrapbooking pages
Various embellishments
10-15 of your favorite photos
Scissors, Adhesive, and Markers

Project Time: in an afternoon
Project Difficulty: Easy Peasy

Project budget: around $10 (unless you use your stash)

DIY Accordion Photo Book Scrapbooking Papercrafting (7)

First, fold the scrapbooking paper in half. Then adhere the back of one page to the front of another. Continue this until you have glued all the pages together to create one long page.

Print off all the photos that you want to use and cut them to size. Now, just go crazy!

DIY Accordion Photo Book Scrapbooking Papercrafting (2)

I had so much fun decorating. I looked at it as almost a timeline of all the fun things JayJay and I have done together over the last year. You can make a theme throughout the book or make each page stand alone. Add text, draw pictures, glitter, whatever you want!

DIY Accordion Photo Book Scrapbooking Papercrafting (5)

When I was all done decorating, I added a ribbon to tie it closed.

DIY Accordion Photo Book Scrapbooking Papercrafting (6)

Have fun with it!

What kind of projects do you like to do to celebrate your friendships?

I took this photo one morning about a month ago of JayJay. It is probably my favorite photo of him. I thought I would may a page that focuses on this photo, sticking to the black and white feel.

Again, like last week, was inspired by one of the cards I got in my ABM Happy Mail. This time I decided to use the card in on my page.

Story of my life right now.

I LOVE these Simple Stories photo crops. The make life SO MUCH easier!
