Blog Update #9: It’s been a while!

OMG! It’s been a while!

lifestyle-blog-diy-homemade-blogger-update-low-rez-1

As I was enjoying a cup of coffee and a much needed day off work, I realized that it has been a while since I posted an entry. I mean, it has been on my to-do list, however it keeps being pushed further and further down as other things come up that I don’t want to say were more important, just a little more time sensitive.

lifestyle-blog-diy-homemade-blogger-update-low-rez-2

I blinked and August was gone. I blinked again and there went September. Now, I cannot believe that October is almost over! I seriously have no idea where time has gone! I’ve had so many plans and ideas an no time to accomplish them! I cannot wait to share them!

lifestyle-blog-diy-homemade-blogger-update-low-rez-3

Just wanted to do a quick update and say that I’m not gone forever! I promise! I know it’s been forever. Holiday is usually a busy season for me so I may be slowing down on here over the next couple month (probably just till the end of the year).

lifestyle-blog-diy-homemade-blogger-update-low-rez-4

I do eventually plan on sharing the reasons behind why I have not been present. I’ve been working on a few pretty big projects in addition to building my inventory for holiday. As most of you know (or may have read) I also have a full time day job that keeps me busy 40 hours a week, so life is one big juggling act for me. Although, I don’t know how to juggle so this is a bad analogy, balancing act? That’s probably better.

Explore Ohio: Favorite Brunch Spots

Whenever I am getting to know someone, one of the questions I always ask them is “what is your top five favorite food?” Then, of course, they ask me in return. I love food, and it can be hard to come up with your top favorite foods on the spot. Not for me: potatoes, breakfast, pizza, butter, chocolate. It took a while to nail this down, but I’ve been asked that question so many times!

I eat #1 and #2 on my list a least once a week. Today, I am here to share my favorite brunch places in Northeast Ohio (Akron/Cleveland). Author note: restaurants are in no particular order! (now THAT is asking a lot!!)

Inn on Coventry2785 Euclid Heights Blvd # 2, Cleveland, OH 44106

Art Journal 26 Before 27 - one year in iPhone photos (12)

This is probably our “go-to” spot when we am in Cleveland. They have a traditional menu, but they also have a few fun combinations! This is a pretty popular spot, so expect a wait at peak times on Saturday and Sunday mornings (10am – 1pm).

Jack Flaps 3900 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, OH 44113

Art Journal 26 Before 27 - one year in iPhone photos (27)

Calling all waffle and pancake lovers! This is your place! Jack Flaps features a diverse menu of both sweet and savory waffle and pancake recipes. I’m a little kid when it comes to food, so what do I recommend? The Belgium waffle with peanut butter mouse, fresh bananas, and candied bacon…yum!

Garrett’s Mill 4226 Hudson Dr, Stow, OH 44224

Art Journal 26 Before 27 - one year in iPhone photos (26)

This is my “go-to” spot in Akron. From the minute you walk in, you feel welcomed. Every time I have been there, the owner greets each and every person who walks through the door. Again, traditional breakfast menu with a few unique recipes. What’s so special? You have to try their ice cream!

XYZ the Tavern6419 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102

Art Journal 26 Before 27 - one year in iPhone photos (4)

XYZ in located in Gordon Square and is more than just a brunch spot. They are usually a lunch/dinner spot, butoffer brunch ONLY on Saturdays and Sundays. This spot is known for their BBQ, but they have a fantastic weekend brunch too! This is also a very popular spot, seating is first come, first serve so expect a little bit of a wait, but very worth it!

Nosh Eatery5929 Darrow Rd #2, Hudson, OH 44236

Art Journal 26 Before 27 - one year in iPhone photos (6)

My favorite thing about Nosh is that the menu changes every month, so there is always a different menu when you visit! It’s a very cozy spot and the menu is somewhat limited, so don’t expect to get your traditional eggs and bacon (not that it’s a bad thing!). They also source local ingredients and you can tell that the head chef is very passionate about what they do because the food is delicious!! Brunch Club Members beware: they are CLOSED on Sundays 🙁

If you know of a great brunch place in the Cleveland/Akron area, please let me know!! I LOVE trying new brunch spots probably more than any other type of restaurant. I can eat breakfast for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! After writing this posts, now I am craving breakfast!!

Happy eating!

I’m excited to read and re-read some my E-courses that I’ve purchased to incorporate some new techniques! I may even have to look through some of my past art journals! At some point, I will be caught up on the months and can release my post in conjunction with the end of the month.

Guilty pleasures are a hard thing for me to capture because I really don’t have any! I have no shame in the things I like to do, music I listen to, or movies/tv shows I watch. One thing that always cheers me up on a bad day is a new project! My apartment is filled with homemade stuff! I tell all my new guests, if it looks homemade it probably is!

See you next week 🙂

New Flair Collection: Enamel Pins

I think I’m jumping on the flair band-wagon a little late, but at first I didn’t get it! I know that statement sounds a little weird. “What do you mean you don’t get it?! They are pretty!” Well, yes, they are, but I felt like I was still missing something.

Then it came to me! I actually started collecting enamel pins when I was younger…guitar shaped ones from different Hard Rock Cafes. I have over 25 pins from different Hard Rocks that either I have visited or my Papa Bear has visited on our travels. What if I got pins that signify different events in my life. That was my “ah ha!” moment.

Heart Sunnies.

These heart shaped sunnies represent 2016 and how awesome of a year it has been. I can’t believe it is halfway over! I do wear glasses all the time and I thought this pin was a good representation of the saying “This is My Year!”

Here are the ones I am scouting to add to my collection next:

1. Camper. 2. Badger. 3. Latte Heart. 4. Dream Machine. 5. Adventure Globe.

I won’t bore you with why I want each of these pins. Of course, my next purchase you will know about! There is a ton of space on my bag for more!

Explore Pittsburgh: Randyland!

Explore Pittsburgh PA Randyland Travel Pennsylvania (6)

Hello Sunshine! You look like a million bucks today!

I don’t think I can call myself a post-college graduate anymore since I graduated college over three years ago. I think I have to consider myself a “young professional.” Whatever label society wants to give me, doesn’t matter because I’m an adventurer! Did you know that you don’t need a million bucks to travel? (I certainly don’t have a million dollars lying around)

I love taking day trips whenever I can. I went and visited my friend in Pittsburgh one day and she took me to this really cool place called Randyland. It’s a fun art museum located on the Northside of Pittsburgh in the Mexican War Streets district. Admission is free, however donations are always welcome.

I could have spend all afternoon there!

Unfortunately, Randy himself was not there, I would have loved to talk to him for hours! That’s okay! Another reason to go back, right?

I was fascinated with these painted doors! So inspiring! I wanted to take one home and use it as my front door!

I can’t wait to go back. I thought this was a great find my friend discovered. And to think, for a five dollar donation we spent so much time just looking around. I know that may sound a little boring, but it was such an inspiring place! There was a woman there who was painting who told us she goes there every day and just paints. I could totally understand! Just looking at these photos makes me want to get up and make something!

Thank You for Sharing!!

Good Morning!!

I’m trying to make a better effort to get back into sharing my experiences! I’m sure all you part time bloggers know that it is a juggling act between a day job, personal life, and the hours needed to create a meaningful blog.

I was reading through my referral links and came across two pages that shared my DIY Pizza Pillow, and I just wanted to say: Thank you!!

Thank you DIY for Teens and Sewing Rabbit! This is why I blog! I want to create sharable content to which others can be inspired!

It seriously made my day! Thank you again!

Explore my Etsy: Handmade Dream Catchers

A couple months ago, I turned my Etsy shop into vacation mode to prep for new products for the summer. Over the next couple weeks, I want to share the story of each of my new products! Up first: Handmade Dream Catchers!

“The Midnight Dreamer”

I always wanted to learn how to make a dream catcher, but it looked so complicated! Now, there is this really cool website called Pinterest (have you heard of it??) where you can literally search for any craft ever and you are bound to fins a free tutorial! Low and behold, after two minutes of searching, I found a great tutorial on how to make a dream catcher. It was a lot easier than I anticipated it to be!

IMG_2029

I am all about using my stash. Each one of these dream catchers are made 100% of materials in my craft closet. At one point in time I purchased the materials for one project or another. Now they are recycled into these pretties!

IMG_2031

I wanted to have a theme for each dream catcher. Now, I will be honest that the name for them came after I made them, but there was still planning!

IMG_2037

I have so much fun making these! I still have so many materials left and at least five more dream catchers planned out! I also take customer orders.

Enjoy!
