Five Minute Three Ingredient Whipped Cream Recipe (3)Combine all your ingredients into one bowl. Next, whisk all your ingredients together until the cream thickens.

There are multiple methods to “whip” your cream. You can whip them by hand with a whisk. If you have a whisk tool for your hand mixer, you can whip on a low setting. Finally, I used a Magic Bullet, make sure you blend in 30 second intervals.

These apple chips are SO good and a little healthier than most snacks that are on the market. They are also not the expensive to make either!

DIY Homemade Apple Chip Recipe (2)

1 red delicious apple (or your favorite kind of apple!)

One Apple Serves about two people!

Prep/Cook Time: 1 hour

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees and spray two baking sheets with non-stick cooking spray. I’ve also made potato chips and the process is very similar. The key is to cook them at a low temperature!

Slice your apples into thin slices. I cut mine in half first. One of my favorite cooking tools I’ve purchased is a mandolin. You can purchase the exact one I have at Target for about $15.00. Honestly, I use it so much more than I thought I would and it makes your life so much easier!

DIY Homemade Apple Chip Recipe (4)

Arrange your apple slices on your baking sheets relatively close together. If they overlap a little, that’s a-okay (they shrink)!

Mix your sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over your slices.

Bake for 45 minutes to an hour. You can tell when they are done because the edges will begin to curl. Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire rack or plate for cooling and crisping.

Enjoy! I gobbled mine up so fast they didn’t even get to cool down!! Here’s a recipe card for you to keep! (Click to enlarge, right click to save your computer and print off!)

Six Ingredient Doggie Food (with recipe card!)

Your best bud deserves to eat as well as you!

IMG_6413

You hear so much talk about healthy eating and dieting, but I often wonder, “what about my best friend?” I’m sure if you are a pet owner you have seen the commercials where pet food is made with “all natural ingredients.” Truth be told, there are still ingredients on the package that I cannot pronounce.

I would be lying if I said JayJay wasn’t spoiled. I just want the best for him. This got me to thinking, “why can’t I make homemade food for him??” Sure enough, I found a simple recipe on Pinterest. I changed a few things to adopt it for my own!

IMG_5804

Here is what you will need:
1 1/2 pound ground beef (or turkey!)
1 1/2 cups brown rice (or white rice!)
1/2 cup frozen green beans
1/2 cup frozen green peas
1 large carrot
1 cup water (plus a little extra if needed)

Makes five 2 1/4 cup servings

You will also need a crock pot for this recipe.

Cook Time: 3-4 hours
Recipe Difficulty: Easy

Recipe Budget: 15 dollars.
Side Note: The most expensive item in the recipe was the ground beef. The bags of frozen food, you can use for multiple recipes. It’s about 15 bucks to start but each recipe after that is around 8 dollars – depending on the cost of your protein. I used one bag of frozen veggies for almost 30 meals!

Turn your crock pot on high and add the water, rice, and veggies.

Brown the ground beef in a skillet on the oven – no need to add any spices!
Once you have cooked the meat, add it to the crock pot of rice and veggies.

In about an hour, turn to crock pot to low and use a spoon to mix the ingredients together.
Every 20 minutes or so for the next two hours, stir and mash the ingredients, occasionally add water as needed if you notice the ingredients are getting dry.

After about three total hours of cook, turn the crock pot off and mash all the ingredients together.

Homemade Doggie Treats

I personally do not have a dog (yet!), but I know plenty of people who do!
I was thinking about baking one day, just for fun! However, there wasn’t anything that I wanted to bake for myself. I was thinking about what I could make, and decided to dabble in making doggie treats!
I search for some recipes and found this one from Sally’s Baking Addiction that only have seven ingredients. She used mostly natural/organic ingredients, however I used the ingredients that I had in my kitchen/would normally eat myself.

What you will need:
1 cup creamy peanut butter
3/4 cup milk (I used 2%, but any will do!)
1 egg
2 cups flour
2 tablespoon baking powder
1/3 cup oats (I used quick oats)
2-3 strips cooked and chopped bacon (I used turkey bacon because it’s healthier)

Ready in: 1 hour, plus cooling time
Yields: a lot!

The first step is to cook your bacon. I cooked about 5-6 strips just in case wanted to add more to the batch or if I wanted to snack along the way! After you cook the bacon set aside and let cool.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
While the oven is heating, use a mixer to blend the peanut butter, milk, and egg until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
Chop strips of bacon into bits and set aside
A little at a time, hand mix in the flour and baking powder to the peanut butter mixture. After dough begins to become to thick to stir with a spoon, hand knead until all ingredients are incorporated. Finally, fold in oats and bacon bits.
Roll the dough out into about 1/4″ thickness. Use a cookie cutter in the shape of your choosing and arrange the shapes on backing sheets lined with parchment paper. You can put them close together because they do not expand.

Bake in oven for 20 minutes or until the bottoms turn slightly brown. Remove from oven, flip treats over, and bake for another 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and allow to completely cool before treating your best friend!
I kept mine treats in a plastic bag at room temperature and made sure they were used up within a week.
The kitchen smelled wonderful when I was baking them, I almost ate one for myself!
Every puppy I gave them too loved them!
I hope that your best friend will enjoy them too!

Guinness Whiskey Milkshake!

“Guinness Whiskey Milkshake”

Hello! I’m excited for my first “official” blog post! Today I decided to share with you a drink recipe of mine.

March is my boyfriend’s favorite month of the year (probably exaggerating, but still one of his favorite).
Why, you ask? Great question! Red Robin is why!
Last year, around this time, we had dinner at Red Robin.  They were featuring a “Guinness Milkshake.”
He fell in love. This drink involves Guinness, whiskey, and chocolate ice cream.
He forgot about it for a while until one day during the fall he got a craving for one!

Probably one of the simplest milkshakes I’ve every made. I looked up a few recipes, just to see how others may have done them. Guy Fieri has a recipe on the Food Networks website here, but he doesn’t use whiskey. I found another recipe that uses whiskey here, but I altered their recipe a bit.

My boyfriend’s favorite whiskey is Jamison, so I decided to start with that! I also use my Magic Bullet to make him a single serve ‘shake. For this ‘shake you will need:
2 oz. of whiskey (again, I used Jamison!)
1 bottle of Guinness (I use bottle versus the can, tastes better!)
Chocolate ice cream

I fill the cup to the top with scoops of ice cream, leaving about a half inch of room. Next, add the whiskey. Finally, pour Guinness to just below the ice cream (unless I am making muliple ‘shakes, I end up dumping the rest). Blend until mixed, you may need to use the “cocktail shake” technique to incorporate the ingredients. If the shake comes out too think, just add more ice cream until thicker!

I don’t know how copy rights work, so I “edited” the labels. I think you can figure out what I used!

I use more whiskey for the boyfriend (he likes it on the stronger side). You may all decorate your glass with chocolate drizzle or even top with whip cream! Enjoy!!
Happy Elder Scrolls Day! (That’s what he’s been playing)

I hope you all have fun with this! I’m super excited about future posts! I’ve been brain storming all day with TONS of ideas. Maybe you can get a feel of my style from my Pinterest or Bloglovin’, and let me know what you may want to see!

Also! I want to see how you did with this recipe! Leave me a comment, I would love to know what you did!
