DIY New Reader Homemade Introduction Page (3)

Welcome! First let me tell you thank you for stopping by! My name is Jennifer and I started Make, Create, and Appreciate in 2014 to share my craft ideas with family, friends and anyone who wanted to read! I started making things as far back as I can remember and I wanted to create a space where I could inspire others to make wonderful things too!

Here is the short version of how things all got started…

When I started my blog in 2014, I really had no rhyme or reason to how or what I was writing about. I was working as an assistant manager at a coffee shop and finishing college. I started writing as a creative outlet to relieve stress and to share my ideas with others! I was posting here and there anything that I was making, mainly whatever I was working on at the time. I shared some art journals and a few recipes, but I nothing I had intentionally planned. I mainly was sharing fun Pinterest projects and my art journals, I tried a few features but failed on the planning end from just being too busy.

The latter half of 2014 was pretty rough. I went through a tough break up, I lost my job, my best friend moved away, and I moved three times. My posts became very few and far between, and consisted more of “I’m sorry for not being present,” which really isn’t that fun to read! Soon, my life became very busy and it was hard for me to keep up.

But, I made it through with positive vibes! I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. It was a time for reflection and I really began to focus on what I wanted to do. During this period, I re-branded and started to develop my vision of what I wanted to share.

At the beginning of 2015, my life calmed down and I began to develop a plan to grow my blog.

I started to post my art journals again, almost every week. I tried experimenting with a couple of different series such as this one and this one, but it was fitting right for me and what I wanted to write about. I love writing something that I would read, and these posts really weren’t something that would catch my interest. So, I went back to the drawing board.

By July of 2015. I had a steady idea stream of homemade gifts and DIY crafts. I really began to focus my vision as a “do-it-yourself” blogger, sharing my budget friendly projects. I still focused on D.I.Y. crafts and art journaling pages!

2016 came in the blink of an eye! I really don’t know where 2015 went. I started thinking more and more as I grow as an individual about what my vision truly is. After emailing an old friend, I came to the conclusion that currently (because I’m always growing), I really want to focus on living a positive life. Making the most of everything, creating things that you love, and appreciating your life!

I want focus on making the most of your life, without breaking the bank. It doesn’t take the lottery to make you happy! My goal is to inspire you to lead a positive life full of adventure! Let’s appreciate the small stuff!
