Make your own galaxy in a jar!
A few weeks ago I found this easy DIY video to make a glittery galaxy in a jar. I must admit….I was a skeptic at first. Nevertheless, I was determined to try it! I was SO surprised how easy and fun it was.
Here is what you will need:
Jar (I bought one, but you can also use a old pizza sauce jar!)
Four different colors of paint
Cotton Balls Glitter
Four cups (ones you DEFINITELY won’t drink out of later)
Project time: 30 minutes TOPS
Project difficulty: super easy
(Not shown) Fill your cups with water, you don’t need too much. Add paint to them, a few drops or so, then stir the paint into the water.
Next, stuff cotton balls at the bottom of your jar, breaking them apart while you are placing them in jar.
Add glitter to the top of the cotton. Then, a little at a time, pour your first color of paint and water mixture over top the cotton. The goal is to have the cotton soak up the water, not leaving much behind.
After the cotton has soaked up the paint water, add another layer of cotton on top, again, breaking them apart as you go. Don’t be shy about the cotton either, pack as much as you can. I used stir sticks to pack it down, too.
Add more glitter, and repeat pouring paint water with your next color.
Repeat layering cotton, glitter, paint water with the remainder of your colors. You can make the layers as think or as thin as you want! There is a great video associated with the pin which can be found here!
I really was astonished how easy it was! I think these would make great gifts too! And they are very inexpensive to make.
