Don’t but new ones! Update the pillows that came with your couch!
Hi! How are you?
I bought a new couch about a year ago and, painfully, stared at these pillows for a year.
I took it upon myself and challenge you, to update the accent pillows that came with your couch.
Here is what you will need:
Two Accent Pillows
Various Colors of Anti-Pill Fleece
Iron and Ironing Board
Needle and Thread
Project Time: over the weekend
Project Difficulty: Moderate
Project budget: around $20
Fleece has a little stretch to it. Measure the accent pillows and cut four pieces the size of the pillow (top left).
Draw the words on freezer paper, and cut them out. (top right) Place the waxy side down, and use the iron to temporarily adhere the letters to alternating colors of fleece. (top right) Cut out around the pattern and remove the paper when done.
Freezer paper is a great tool for crafting. It allows you to draw and cut out ANY shape you want and will temporarily adhere to most mediums. The best part is when the paper is removed, there is no mess or residue left behind!
Lay out the letters on the pillow cut outs. (bottom left and right)
Pin the letters into place that were laidout. (top left)
Sew around the letters (very carefully) using a half inch seam allowance. (top right, bottom left)
When finished sewing the letter on (bottom right), put right sides together of the main pillow cut outs and sew together, leaving an opening for turning and stuffing. Repeat with the second pillow.
Turn the pillows right side out and stuff with the accent pillows that came with the couch. Once stuffed, use the invisible stitch to hand sew the openings closed.
